Introduction to ASIR

ASIR Labs is an international research organization focusing on smart healthcare, intelligent robotics and visible light communication and positioning technologies, headquartered in Paris, France, a major center of global science and culture. Relying on the geographic advantage and academic resources of Paris, ASIR Labs has established a wide range of cooperative relationships with research institutions in many countries around the world, including in-depth cooperation with several research teams and enterprises in China.
Prof. Jean – Marie Nianga, the French contact person of the lab, is a professor and doctoral supervisor at the University of Lille, France, and vice president of the ASIR Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, France. His main research fields include mechanical engineering and material science, especially with outstanding contributions in medical material applications. Prof. Nianga’s research focuses on the mechanical behavior of structures and materials, particularly in the areas of stress, thermal dynamics and fractal analysis of surface roughness. His research also deals with the fracture mechanics of piezoelectric materials, which are widely used in medical devices due to their ability to generate electrical charges under mechanical stress. He has been involved in the development of theoretical models for the homogenization of piezoelectric materials that have improved the durability and performance of these materials in medical and industrial applications. In the field of biomedical materials, Prof. Nyanga’s research has contributed to the enhancement of the properties of materials used in prosthetics and medical implants, in particular durability, mechanical properties and the interaction of synthetic materials with biological tissues. His research on surface roughness and contact surfaces has played a key role in improving the biocompatibility and wear resistance of medical implants, which ensures that devices such as prosthetics can operate efficiently over long periods of time.

The Chinese contact of the lab, Prof. Wang Zefeng, is a sea-based expert of the China Association for Science and Technology, selected as one of the top ten scientific and technological leaders of Chinese in Europe, an overseas specially-appointed expert of Zhejiang Province, one of the six talent peaks of Jiangsu Province, and an innovation and entrepreneurship leader of Nanjing, and is now a specially-appointed professor and doctoral supervisor of Huzhou Normal University, as well as the director of the postgraduate program on Perception and Control Technology of the School of Information Technology and Engineering of Huzhou Normal University. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Applied Physics, Master’s degree in Mechanical and Systems Engineering, and Ph.D. degree in Electromechanical Acoustics and Robotics Engineering from the University of Paris VI (former Pierre-Marie Curie University, now Sorbonne University), France. D., postdoctoral research at Harbin Institute of Technology, and Associate Professor at Université Catholique de Lille, France. He returned to China in 2017 as an invited expert and visiting professor at YNCREA University, France, and joined Huzhou Normal University as an invited professor at the end of 2020, where he is jointly training PhD students with Sorbonne University and Lille University, France.

In the field of smart healthcare, ASIR Lab is dedicated to improving the quality and efficiency of healthcare services using AI technologies, including disease-assisted diagnosis, treatment plan preference, electronic medical record system, telemedicine and internet-based diagnosis and treatment. The lab’s research focuses not only on improving the patient experience, but also on improving the refinement of hospital management through intelligent data analysis.

Intelligent robotics is another research focus of the ASIR lab, which develops robotic systems that can adapt to complex environments and perform diverse tasks. The scope of research covers integrated structure-function-performance design of robots, interaction control and behavioral fusion of bio-mechanical-electrical systems, and multi-robot collaborative global sensing technology, etc. The ASIR Lab’s robotics technology in specific application scenarios, such as the research of high-mobility wheeled-footed bionic robots in complex plateau environments, has demonstrated its profound strength in this field.

Visible light communication positioning technology is one of the cutting-edge research areas of ASIR Labs. The lab explores high-precision indoor positioning technology through visible light signals, which is of great significance for the development of new types of business such as autonomous driving, smart factories and augmented reality.

The ASIR Lab is open for collaboration and welcomes exchanges and collaborations with research institutions, companies and individual researchers worldwide. The lab provides a series of cooperation platforms and mechanisms, including visiting scholar programs, joint research projects, and technology cooperation and development, to promote the sharing of research resources and the transformation of research results. Through these collaborations, ASIR Labs hopes to work together to promote scientific and technological progress and solve global scientific research challenges.

Overall, ASIR Labs is a scientific research organization with an international outlook and a spirit of cooperation. Headquartered in Paris, ASIR Labs has established close cooperation with several partners in China and internationally, and always opens its doors to welcome research colleagues from all over the world to explore the mysteries of science and create a better future together.
